About PawSum Pet Assistance

PawSum Pet Assistance provides financial assistance for 

medically necessary veterinary treatment of non-routine illnesses and injuries to prevent unnecessary suffering and avoid pet surrender and euthanasia.


The fund is managed by Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc.

Assistance Provided

PawSum Pet Assistance supports:

  • Non-routine illnesses and injuries, such as:
    • Acute Care
    • Wound Care
    • Infection Treatment
    • Disease Management
    • Chronic Condition Support
    • Pain Management
    • Skin & Ear Treatment
    • Medically Necessary Care
    • Illness & Injury Treatment
    • Non-Routine Medical Care
    • Stabilization & Treatment
    • Essential Treatment Support
  • Conditions with a reasonable expectation of a positive outcome


PawSum Pet Assistance does not support routine, elective, or preventive care.


Please contact PawSum Pet Assistance directly if you unsure if your pet's diagnosis qualifies as a non-routine illness or injury.

Who Can Apply

PawSum Pet Assistance funds are available to:

  • Door County residents
  • Owners of domesticated animals
  • Pets requiring veterinary care of non-routine illnesses and injuries
  • Treatment must be provided by a Wisconsin-licensed veterinarian.


Assistance is not based on income level and is awarded using objective, nondiscriminatory criteria.


NOTE:  

  • Assistance is limited and subject to available funds 
  • Payments will be made directly to the veterinary clinic

How to Apply for Assistance

  1. Pet owner completes and submits the PawSum Pet Assistance Application.
  2. If approved, PawSum Pet Assistance will directly pay the veterinarian.
