Therapy dogs provide a therapeutic benefit to the general public while service dogs are trained and certified to individually assist their owner's unique needs.
Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. certifies dogs as therapy dogs; they are not eligible for public access rights unless you as a disabled handler as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
All dogs must have a buckle or martingale collar, a non-corrective harness, and a 4-6 foot leash.
Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. does not allow retractable, elastic, bungee, slip, chain leashes, clickers, corrective head halters or harnesses, pinch, pronged (metal or plastic), spiked, or electric collars.
Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. has volunteer teams of dogs and handlers that visit nursing homes, schools, hospitals, libraries, detention centers, and other locations. Teams can choose a volunteer opportunity that best fits their schedule and interests.
