The "Magic" of Therapy Dogs

Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. began with a love for dogs and the community's need for interaction with therapy dogs. There is no better feeling than sharing your dog's love with someone needing the "magic touch" of a dog.

Therapy dogs benefit individuals of all ages. Many of our therapy dog teams visit local schools and interact with students. Students find the companionship of a therapy dog reassuring as they practice reading. A therapy dog offers a calming, non-judgmental presence as students become confident readers.

Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. has witnessed multiple times how the presence of a therapy dog can help calm or de-escalate a situation with a student. Interacting with and petting the therapy dog can help students regulate their behavior and return to the classroom.

Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. also visits local nursing homes/assisted living facilities and other facilities as requested. Therapy dogs are known to ease stress, anxiety, and depression. Many patients look forward to interacting with the therapy dogs and find them comforting.

Overall, Door County Therapy Dog Teams, Inc. exemplifies the power of the relationship between people and animals and its positive impact on individuals facing various challenges. Through their dedication and commitment to serving the Door County community, therapy dogs make a meaningful difference in the lives of many, one paw at a time.

"I just think it's really cool to be able to read to dogs because they don't correct your mistakes and they don't care what you read to them, and they're just calm."
